The entire concept of altruism is based on selfless actions, purely for the benefit of others. So technically this claim is true. However, I'm not sure that people do anything without thinking for themselves at least in part, unless purely as a reflex. And then is that altruism? or is that just that? a reflex—something wherein no thought goes into the process at all.
